GRANDMA’S OLD-FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING WITH VANILLA SAUCE!

 


Just like Grandma made it, she’ll love this classic old-fashioned bread recipe with vanilla sauce! This warm and comforting recipe is best served any time of the year with your favorite brand of vanilla ice cream. Filled with sweet flavors of vanilla, fresh nutmeg, raisins, and sugar, this recipe is the perfect way to finish any meal.

 

We found this recipe tucked inside my mom’s Bible while we were browsing her things. It has become a family tradition on the first snowy day of the year, and if not, which could be the case here in Central Virginia, we know it will be the signature dessert on Easter and anytime comfort food is available. * Ingredients:

 

 

° 4 cups (8 slices) white bread cubes

 

° 1/2 cup raisins

 

° 2 cups of milk

 

° 1/4 cup butter

 

° 1/2 cup sugar

 

° 2 eggs, lightly beaten

 

° 1 tablespoon of vanilla

 

° 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

 

Sauce Ingredients:

 

° 1/2 cup butter

 

° 1/2 cup sugar

 

° 1/2 cup brown sugar, hard packed

 

° 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

 

° 1 tablespoon of vanilla

 

* Directiones :

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the bread and raisins in a large bowl. Combine milk and 1/4 cup of butter in a 1 liter saucepan. Cook over medium heat until butter melts (4 to 7 minutes). Pour the milk mixture over the bread. Let it stand for 10 minutes.

 

Heart all the remaining pudding ingredients. Pour into a 1/2-quart greased casserole. Baking about 41 to 51 min .

 

Salsa directions:

 

In a 1L saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients except vanilla. Cooking on heat, stir occasionally, To mixture thickens  (5 to 8 minutes). Add vanilla.

 

To serve, pour warm pudding into individual dessert bowls; Serve with chutney. Keeps cool.
